Opus K Prestige Cuvée 2021

As opulent and oaky as its bright gold colour suggests it might be. But also wire-snapping tension. Oodles of ambition and confidence in the swashbuckling mango, nectarine and caramelised clementine fruit. Bone-dry but the flavours shimmer with sweetness. Matcha-tea notes bring a dusty gently bitter, soft-green haze. Orange-sherbet fizzes through the acidity. Sour cherry plays ping pong with the sweetness. Crushed walnuts in a savoury, oak-spoke undertow. A light curry spiciness before the wine narrows into an arrow of citrus on the finish.

This is a white wine prestige cuvée that reflects the suspense of the Käfer bar and delicatessen in Munich for which this wine was made.

Together with one of Germany's Top 50 sommelier and maître, Alessandro Borioni, a superlative Burgundy cuvée with a vibrant finish was conceived. What was created here in Vendersheim during a jam session for the palate could only have come about in the surreal setting of Neverland. This Burgundian symphony with a touch of funk, which was only palpable on the palate for a few seconds that evening shortly after midnight, is now making tastebuds vibrate elsewhere across the delicatessen and Neverland world.
